Titan girls fall on the road to Mitchell

On Thursday, Jan. 22 the Tea Area High School girls’ basketball team took on Mitchell in an Eastern South Dakota Conference match-up.
After three quarters of play, Tea Area led 34-32 and with just seven minutes left in the game, the Titans built up a 40-32 lead. However, Mitchell started getting hot from three point land and soon they took the 49-43 lead, and eventually the 59-50 win.
The Titans had their fair share of three pointers in the game, hitting 11. Anna Binde had four in the game as did Ellie Clayberg. Jayna VanLaecken, Grace Bialas, and Jaycie Babb also each hit a three pointer in the game.
Leading the Titans in scoring was Binde and Clayberg with 12 points each. Emma Lingren finished with ten. Babb scored eight for the Titans and VanLaecken and Bialas each had four.
VanLaecken led the team in rebounds with seven. Bialas grabbed four and Natalie Gass, Binde, Lingren, and Clayberg each had one. Bialas led the team in assists with three and Lingren led in steals with six in the game. Babb finished with three steals.
The Titans will host Sioux Falls Roosevelt on Thursday, Jan. 29 with a 7 p.m. tip-off. They will be at O’Gorman on Tuesday, Feb. 3 and will travel to Pierre on Saturday, Feb. 7.
