The Tea Area High School girls’ soccer team hosted Brookings on Thursday, Aug. 20.

Tea Area struck first as Cate Giles hit a penalty kick in the first half to put the Titans up 1-0. However, Brookings went on to score two times in the second half to take the 2-1 victory.

On Saturday, Aug. 22 the Titans traveled to Harrisburg to take on the Tigers.

Harrisburg controlled much of the match, eventually earning a 7-1 victory over the Titans.

Tea Area got on the scoreboard first, with eighth-grade midfielder Alyana Mann finding the back of the net to give the Titans an early lead.

Harrisburg answered and carried a 4-1 advantage into halftime.

The Tigers continued to apply pressure in the second half, adding three more goals.  Despite the lopsided score, the Titans continued to battle throughout the second half, working to maintain possession and create opportunities against the Harrisburg defense.

Tea Area goalkeeper Brookelyn Youngstrom, a sophomore, started the match for the Titans, with Nola Terveen also seeing time in goal.

Tea Area was scheduled to travel to Yankton on Tuesday, Aug. 25, and will be at home on Tuesday, Sept. 1, when they host Sioux Falls Roosevelt. The varsity girls are set to kick off at 5 p.m.
