Titan girls get back to back wins out West

This past weekend, the Tea Area High School girls’ basketball team headed out west to face off against Douglas on Friday, Jan. 2, and Sturgis Brown on Saturday, Jan. 3.
The Titans earned victories in both match-ups, defeating Douglas 58-27 and Sturgis 49-31.
Against Douglas, Emma Lingren led the way with 12 points, seven steals, and two rebounds. She went three for three from downtown.
Anna Binde finished the night with nine points, seven rebounds, and one steal. Both Ellie Clayberg and Grace Bialas had seven points each. Clayberg also grabbed one rebound, had two assists, and one steal. Bialas had seven rebounds, three assists, and one steal.
Daphne Decker finished with five points. Jaycie Babb added four points, grabbed one rebound, had two assists, and six steals. Jayna VanLaecken also scored four points and had four rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Tatym Slykhuis finished with three points and two assists. Piper Benning and Talli Preschong each had three points as well. Benning also had two rebounds, and Preschong had two rebounds. Natalie Gass had one point, one rebound, two assists, and one steal.
Against Sturgis Brown, the Titans were led by both Babb and Binde, who each scored 11 points. Babb also grabbed four rebounds, had three assists, and two steals. She hit both of her three-point attempts in the game. Binde had three rebounds and three steals. VanLaecken finished with ten points, five rebounds, and one assist. Lingren finished with nine points. She also had one rebound, three assists, and one steal.
Preslie Benning and Piper Benning each had three points. Preslie Benning also had two rebounds and one steal. Slykhuis had two rebounds.
The Titan girls will be in action on Saturday, Jan. 10, when they take on West Fargo Horace at the Sanford Pentagon. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
The team will be at Sioux Falls Jefferson on Thursday, Jan. 15, and will be at home again on Saturday, Jan. 17, when they take on Aberdeen Central at 3 p.m.
