Tea Titan Wrestlers proudly display their third place trophy won at the 2022 TLAN QC Camp held in July in Bettendorf, IA.

On July 17-20, 20 Tea Area High School wrestlers headed down to Bettendorf, IA to compete in the Train Like a Norseman Team Wrestling Camp (TLAN) at Luther College.

“It was great getting the kids back to a true team camp this summer after COVID restrictions and limitations the last two years,” said Titan head coach John Niesen. “We brought 20 kids to camp and they competed hard in a variety of activities, including 10 duals, an individual tournament, and team-building activities.”

The Titan athletes were given the opportunity to learn from All-American NCAA wrestlers, beach wrestle and compete against some of the top teams from different states. Among the instructors were Myles Amine from the Michigan University. Amine was an Olympic Bronze Medalist and five-time Division I All-American. Keegan O’Toole, from the University of Missouri, also helped coached the team at camp. O’Toole was a 2022 National Champion and a two time Division I All-American.

The Titan wrestlers competed in team duals and bracketed individual Tournaments. The Tea Area wrestlers were able to bring home the third place trophy from the 2022 TLAN QC Camp. This third place finish took into account the duals and team building activities. The Titans went 8-2 in the duals.

“We’re tremendously proud of the way our kids represented Tea, as they gutted out some tough situations and came away with a third-place overall finish,” said Niesen. “We grew together not just on the mat, but off, and I’m excited to see how it carries over into the remainder of the off-season.”
