Titans 16U battles to semifinal finish at Buffalo Wild Wings Classic

The Titans 16U baseball team put together a strong showing at the Buffalo Wild Wings Classic Tournament in Brookings July 10-12, finishing pool play with a 2-1 record before falling in a hard-fought semifinal contest.

The Titans opened the tournament with an 11-9 loss to Marshall, Minnesota. Blake Treloar, Egan Geelan and Owen Schramm each collected two hits in the game, while Treloar drove in three runs to lead the offense.

The team bounced back in its second pool play game with a commanding 15-2 victory over Harrisburg. Treloar, Braeden Carroll and Braxon Willemssen each recorded three hits, while Nate Hall added two hits. Hall and Willemssen each drove in three runs. On the mound, Geelan tossed six innings, allowing just one hit and two runs while striking out four batters.

The Titans closed out pool play with a 5-0 shutout over Watertown. Willemssen was dominant on the mound, throwing a complete-game one-hit shutout with nine strikeouts over seven innings. Offensively, Hall highlighted the game with a three-run triple, while Willemssen and Ty Olson each finished with two hits.

Advancing to the semifinals, the Titans faced the Midwest Vandals in a dramatic contest that ended in a 7-6 loss.

Trailing 5-2 entering the seventh inning, the Titans rallied for four runs to take a 6-5 lead. However, the Vandals answered with two runs in the bottom of the seventh to walk off with the victory. Geelan, Hall and Schramm each had two hits in the semifinal, with Hall driving in two runs. Kaden Christian pitched five innings, allowing two hits and two runs while striking out two batters.
