Titans defeat Mitchell in overtime, 26-20

The Tea Area High School football team traveled to Mitchell on Friday, Sept. 26 and scored on a Mitch Grant quarterback keeper in overtime to secure the 26-20 victory.
Tea Area scored first as Kade Korleski took the carry three yards for the score. The point after by Cameron Hillestad put the Titans up 7-0 midway through the first quarter.
Mitchell then scored twice in the first quarter, the first time following an interception. Their successful point after attempts gave them a 14-7 lead heading into the second quarter.
In the second, Korleski managed to find the endzone again, this time on a four-yard run. Hillestad’s point after tied things up before halftime.
In the third quarter, Mitchell connected on a 19-yard field goal to retake the lead, 17-14. That was the only score of the third quarter.
In the fourth, Mitchell kicked through another field goal, this time a 30-yarder, giving them the 20-14 lead.
In the fourth quarter, with just 30 seconds remaining, Grant took the quarterback keeper five yards for the score. Hillestad’s kick after was no good, forcing overtime.
In overtime, Grant took the two-yard quarterback keeper in for the score and the 26-20 Titan victory.
The Titans finished the game with 327 yards of offense, gaining 241 on the ground and 86 in the air.
Grant finished the game, completing six of 13 pass attempts for 86 yards. He also ran for 109 yards on 15 carries, including two touchdowns.
Korleski rushed for 113 yards on 16 carries, including two scores.
Carter Brown had 38 yards rushing on 12 carries.
Grifin Wiebenga grabbed two passes for 53 yards. Korleski had one grab for 19 yards, Hillestad had one for 13, and Brown had a reception in the game for one yard gain.
Defensively, Korleski had one interception, which he returned for 48 yards. Hayden Bialas had one sack in the game for the Titans. Brown led the team in tackles with 12. Bialas had ten, Korleski nine, Emmett DeGeest eight, Wiebenga and Chase DeBoer five each, and Leyton Moran three. Brown and Hillestad were also credited with a broken-up pass.
Tea Area will be back at home this Friday, Oct. 3 when they take on Brookings in a 6 p.m. match-up. Brookings comes into the match-up 2-2, having lost to Pierre (20-17), and Sturgis Brown (26-21). They have recorded wins over Aberdeen Central (14-10) and Mitchell (40-0).
