Titans defeat West Fargo

The Tea Area Titans baseball team recorded their first win of the season and their first win as a Class “A” Baseball team last  Friday night, as part of the Border Battle at the Sanford Sports Complex,  defeating West Fargo by a score of 5-3.

The Titans, coming off of winning the State Class B Championship last season, moved up to Class A this year and dropped a double header to Harrisburg last Wednesday, but found the victory column Friday night.

Sam Werdel (pictured at right) started on the mound for the Titans, pitching 3 and 2/3 innings, allowing one unearned run on one hit, while striking out five batters.  He was relieved by Cole McKinney, who pitched one inning, and Teagan Dedula who notched the final seven outs while, giving up no runs, no hits, and striking out two, to nail down the victory.

At the plate, the Titans were lead by Ethan Vis, who had a single and an RBI.

Boston Willemssen scored two runs and had two stolen bases. Tea scored two runs in both the 3rd and 4th innings, and tacked one more on in the 6th. The Titans will host Huron this Friday in double header action starting at 5 and 7 p.m. They will also head back to the Sanford Sports Complex on Saturday for another Border Battle clash at noon versus Grand Forks Central.
