Titans drop close matches to Pierre, SF Washington

The Tea Area High School boys’ soccer team dropped a pair of matches last week, falling to Pierre, 3-2, on Monday, Sept. 15, before losing to Sioux Falls Washington, 3-1, on Wednesday, Sept. 17.
Against Pierre, the Titans struck first in the opening half. Nathan Hall assisted Reed Cerny, who found the back of the net in the 11th minute to give Tea Area a 1-0 lead.
The Titans added to their advantage in the second half when Hudson Hadrick scored on a shot with 36:29 remaining in the half, putting Tea Area ahead 2-0. Pierre responded with three goals to rally for the 3-2 victory.
Tea Area then traveled to Sioux Falls Washington on Sept. 17. The Titans trailed 2-0 at halftime before Cerny got Tea Area on the scoreboard with a goal at the 32:12 mark of the second half. Washington added another goal to secure the 3-1 victory.
The Titans will return home for three consecutive matches to close out the regular season.
Tea Area will host Brookings on Thursday, Sept. 24. The match is a rescheduled contest that was originally postponed Aug. 20.
The Titans will then host Huron on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 11 a.m., followed by their regular-season finale against Mitchell on Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 8 p.m.
The first round of the playoffs is scheduled for Oct. 6, followed by the quarterfinals on Oct. 10 and semifinals on Oct. 13. The State Class AA Soccer Championships will be held Oct. 17.
