Titans earn decisive wins over Lennox, Canton Fall to Madison, West Central
On Tuesday, May 2 the Tea Area High School softball team hosted Lennox and used an 11 run fourth inning to secure the 17-2 victory over the Orioles.
In the bottom of the first inning, Emersyn Erck homered on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs to tie things up.
The Titans scored one run in the second inning as Kalli Boom tripled on a 2-0 count to score Preslie Benning.
In the third, Skyler hit a home run.
More home runs were had in the big fourth inning as Jillian Arp, Erck, and Nevaeh Berg all hit the long ball. A single by Ava Opland, and a double by Arp also highlighted the inning.
Emily Froendt earned the win for the Titans. The righthander surrendered two runs on four hits over four innings, striking out five and walking zero.
The Titans tallied 17 hits on the day. Arp, Boom, Erck, Haines, Berg, and Opland each collected multiple hits for Tea Area.
On Monday, May 1 Tea Area took on Madison and lost the lead late in an 8-3 defeat.
Froendt took the loss for Tea Area. The pitcher lasted three innings, allowing four hits and four runs while striking out four and walking one. Addisyn Hansen started the game for the Titans. The righty went six innings, allowing three runs on six hits, striking out 12 and walking one
Erck hit a home run in the fifth inning. Erck recorded four hits in five at bats to lead the Titans.
On Friday, Apr. 28 the Titans defeated Canton 22-0.
Tea Area scored 17 runs in the opening inning to get the decisive win after three innings of play.
Haines, Froendt, Hansen, and Arp all hit a home run in the game. Opland led the team with three hits in three at bats.
Handling pitching duties were Froendt and Hansen. Froendt pitched four innings, allowing six hits and seven runs. She recorded two strike-outs. Hansen pitched three innings, allowing tow hits and recording three strike-outs.
On Thursday, Apr. 27 the Titans took on West Central and watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 7-0 loss.
Froendt took the loss for Tea Area. The pitcher surrendered seven runs on six hits over four innings, striking out two and walking one.
Arp led the Titans with two hits in two at bats.
