Titans fall to SF Washington: Prepare to face Pierre in playoffs

On Thursday, Oct. 23 the Tea Area High School football team traveled to Howard Wood for their final regular season game against Sioux Falls Washington.
Washington struck first, scoring a 67 yard passing touchdown. The extra point was no good. They scored again before quarter’s end, this time on a 25 yard pass. The point after had Tea Area trailing 13-0 heading into the second quarter.
In the second quarter, the Titans got the board as Daschle Lowery took the quarterback keeper in for 15 yards. The point after by Cameron Hillestad closed the gap, 13-7.
However, Washington managed another score before halftime and sealed their win with a late fourth quarter touchdown, handing Tea Area the 27-7 loss.
The Titans finished with 231 yards of offense, gaining 125 on the ground and 106 in the air.
Lowery completed ten of 16 passes for 106 yards.
Devin Rhodes caught four passes for 32 yards. Grifin Wiebenga caught two passes for 39 yards, Kade Korleski had two grabs for 18 yards and Carter Brown had two passes for 17 yards.
On the ground, Hayden Bialas finished the night with 48 yards on ten carries to lead the rushing attack. Korleski finished with 43 yards on 15 carries. Brown had 28 yards on nine carries.
Defensively, Brown finished the night with 11 tackles. Hayden Bialas had a sack in the game, broke up two passes and had three tackles. Wiebenga also broke up two passes, recorded an interception, and had two tackles. Emmett DeGeest and Chase DeBoer both had four tackles in the game. Korleski, Kingston Nyberg, Cody Petersen, and Thiik Lual had three tackles apiece.
The Titans now look to the playoffs where they will face off against Pierre T.F. Riggs at Hollister Field in Pierre on Thursday, Oct. 30. Kick-off is at 6 p.m. The Titans enter the game with a 5-4 record, Pierre comes in at 6-3. The winner will advance to the semi-finals on Friday, Nov. 7. The State Championship game will be played on Nov. 14 at the DakotaDome in Vermillion.
