Titans fall to Yankton during Senior Day this past Saturday

On Saturday, May 10 the Tea Area High School baseball team took on Yankton in double header action. The day also marked Senior Day.Â
The Titans dropped the first game, 15-0 and the second 17-6.Â
In the first game, Yankton scored early and Tea Area was unable to answer, facing a 9-0 deficit heading into the fifth inning. Six runs in the top of the sixth sealed the win for Yankton.Â
For the Titans, Bryson Prussman took the loss on the mound. The starting pitcher went three and two-thirds innings, allowing nine runs on eight hits, striking out six and walking two.Â
Also seeing action on the mound for Tea Area was Avery Hangman who allowed two hits, three runs and recorded two strike-outs. Ben Vasecka allowed two hits and three runs while recording one strike out.Â
In their second match-up, Tea Area faced a 4-0 deficit after three innings and an 8-0 after five. Yankton scored nine runs in the top of the sixth. The Titans attempted a come-back but fell short, scoring six runs in the bottom of the sixth. In the inning, Jake Lingren singled, scoring one run; Landyn Johnson drew a walk, scoring one run; Jonothan Schlunsen scored after tagging up; Nate Hall singled, scoring one run, and an error scored two runs.Â
On the mound for the Titans was Cole McKinney, Zach Pies, Ethan Knettel, and Lingren. McKinney took the loss for the Titans. He went four and two-thirds innings, surrendering eight runs on eight hits, striking out four and walking three.Â
Pies allowed two runs, Knettel allowed six runs on four hits while recording one strike-out and Lingren allowed two hits, one run and recorded two strike-outs.Â
Tyson Gilbert, Johnson, Lingren, Hall, and Vasecka each collected one hit for the Titans.Â
The Titans finish the regular season with a 5-13 record.Â
Region action is scheduled to begin this Thursday, May 15.
