Titans girls fall to Jefferson bounce back with win over Watertown
On Jan. 11 the Tea Area High School girls’ basketball team traveled to Sioux Falls Jefferson and fought hard but ultimately suffered their first loss of the season, falling to Sioux Falls Jefferson 52-47.
The Titans led by as many as seven in third quarter but were outscored in the fourth.
Leading the Titans was Mara Grant and Katie Vasecka who both scored in double figures. Grant finished with a double-double, scoring 19 points and pulling down 16 rebounds. She also had two assists and three steals. Vasecka scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds. She also had three assists and two steals.
Haidyn West finished the night with eight points and two rebounds. Ellie Clayberg had two points, two rebounds, and two assists. Anna Binde led the team in steals with five.
On Tuesday, Jan. 16 the Titans hosted Watertown and used a 14-5 third quarter advantage to get the 50-32 victory.
The Titans had three players in double figures with Grant recording another double-double after scoring 12 points and pulling down 13 rebounds. She also had three assists and two steals. Vasecka finished the night with 17 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals. Clayberg added ten points, pulled down two rebounds and had three assists. Miah Weber finished with six points, one assist, one steal and one rebound. Binde had two points.
The Titans were scheduled to host Aberdeen Central on Thursday, Jan. 18. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. On Tuesday, Jan. 23 the Titans will head to the Pentagon to take on Sioux Falls Christian in a 6:30 p.m. match-up. They will be at home again on Thursday, Jan. 25 when they host Madison for a 7 p.m. game.
