Titans headed back to State
With an 11-1 win over Flandreau on Wednesday, May 22, the Tea Area High School softball team earned a repeat trip to the State A Tournament to be held this Thursday, Friday and Saturday in Aberdeen.
In the SoDak 16 match-up against Flandreau, Tea Area’s Addisyn Hansen drove in four runs on three hits to lead the Titans to victory. Hansen singled in the fifth, scoring two, singled in the second, scoring one, and singled in the fourth, scoring one.
On the mound for the Titans was Emily Froendt who struck out 12 batters on the day. She allowed only three hits and one run over six innings.
The Titans got out to an early lead with Skyler Haines hitting a double in the bottom of the first to bring three runs in.
For the Titans, Hansen had four hits, Sydney Ganschow and Haines two, and Kali Boom, Froendt, Shealey Geelan, and Abby Boom each had a hit in the win.
The Titans began State Tournament play with a 5:30 p.m. match-up on Thursday, May 30 against Beresford in Aberdeen. Play continues on Friday, May 31 and Saturday, May 1. All games will be played at the Players Complex in Aberdeen.
