Titans to compete in State competitive cheer and competitive dance championships this weekend

The Watertown Civic Arena is the site for the nineteenth annual state competition for cheer and dance. Competition for Class A will be held on Friday, Oct. 24, with opening ceremonies beginning at 5:00 p.m.(CT) Class AA competition will begin at 11:00 a.m.(CT) on Saturday, Oct. 25.  

Class A has 20 schools entered in the competitive cheer competition with 6 in the competitive dance competition. In Class AA, 18 schools will compete in competitive dance, with 19 set to compete in competitive cheer.

Among those competing in Class AA for competitive cheer will be Tea Area. Tea Area will also compete in competitive dance in Hip Hop and Pom. Tea Area is set to perform Pom at approximately 11:31 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25. They will perform the stunting/tumbling at approximately 12:35 p.m. and the Hip Hop routine at approximately 1:23 p.m. 

Competitive cheer has one category: stunting/tumbling. Competitive dance will have three categories: hip hop, jazz and pom. To qualify for the State Competition, each school must compete in a minimum of two competitions during the regular season. There will be a formal awards ceremony following competition on both Friday and Saturday.

Last year’s overall champions in the Cheer Competition were Class AA –Harrisburg; Class A – Sioux Valley. 2024 overall champions for the Dance Competition were Class AA – Brandon Valley and Class A – Dakota Valley.

The state meet will be a two session tournament with adult tickets at $15.00 (plus facility fees) each per day and the student ticket at $10.00 (plus facility fees) each per day.
