Election canvass sparks discussion among Lincoln County Commissioners

Harms, Ekstrum win Lincoln County Commission Primaries
Two newcomers are poised to join the Lincoln County Commission following victories in the June 2 primary election, bringing new faces to the county’s governing board. In the District 3 race, Amy Harms defeated incumbent Commission Chair Tiffani Landeen, earning 930 votes, or 63 percent of the vote, compared to Landeen’s 543 votes, or 37 percent. Chicks come to the classroom at elementary schools across Lincoln County

School board discusses solar panels
The Tea Area School Board met June 8 and spent the majority of the meeting discussing solar panels. Operations manager Wayne Larsen provided some maps to put solar panels on the roof of Venture Elementary. When they built Venture, they talked about putting panels up there eventually. Hometown tradition returns as Teapot Days kicks of June 17
The community of Tea is preparing for four days of family-friendly fun, entertainment, and hometown tradition as Teapot Days 2026 returns June 17-20. The annual celebration will feature a community picnic, carnival, parade, live music, food vendors, fireworks, sporting events, and numerous activities for residents and visitors of all ages. Titan golfers compete at State AA
On June 1 and 2, four Tea Area High School golfers traveled to Cattail Crossing Golf Course in Watertown to compete in the State AA Golf Tournament. Leading the Titans was Makenna Vavra who shot a two-day total of 189, this tied her for 49th among the state’s top golfers. Vavra shot a 93 (48, 45) on the first day of competition and a 96 (42, 54) on the second. Tea Area’s Camie Powell finished with a two-day total of 198, tying for 61st place. City approves variances
The Tea City Council met June 1 and held two public hearings for variances. Community development director Albert Schmidt provided information on a variance to reduce front yard setback from 20 feet to 5 feet along W. Ivy Road for parking pad and shed at 2300 N. Carson Circle. The lot is a curvy corner lot. The council approved the variance with the stipulation that they cannot add onto the house. Stahlecker leads Titans with double Championship: Stahlecker earns Tea Area’s first-ever All-Class Gold Medal as Martens, relay teams and Babb add medals at State AA Meet
The Tea Area High School track and field teams delivered a historic performance at the 2026 SDHSAA State AA Track and Field Meet, held May 28-30 at Howard Wood Field. Leading the way was junior Sydney Stahlecker, who etched her name into the Titan record books with a pair of State championships. Lincoln County approves airport leases, budget supplements
The Lincoln County Commission met Tuesday, May 26. Titans find success at Last Chance Meet: Compete at State AA Meet May 28-30
The Tea Area High School track and field team turned in several strong performances at the Howard Wood Last Chance Meet on Thursday, May 21, at Howard Wood Field, as athletes made final preparations ahead of the State AA meet. The Titans were led by several top-three finishes, including a pair of event victories and multiple podium performances.
